WE LACK PROPER TRAINING FACILITIES – DUNCAN

The head coach of Ghana’s Olympic team the Black Meteors, David Duncan says that one of the major challenges facing the various national teams is the lack of a comprehensive training camp for the various teams. He told footyghana.com that most of the national teams, including the Meteors, have to grapple with having to leave their respective hotels to battle through traffic to get to the designated training grounds, by which time most of the players will be physically and mentally tired before the actual training begins. Duncan added that after training sessions, the teams are compelled to go through traffic before returning to the designated hotels. The former Ashanti Gold head coach also noted that the routine becomes quite strenuous for the players, who as a result do not have a requisite rest times between training sessions. He added that this was one of the reasons why, with the exception of the full Black Stars team, the various national teams do not do very well because of this major challenge. Duncan has thus made an appeal for the provision of a proper training camp which will consist of accommodation for the playing and technical staff as well as proper pitches for training sessions, so that the various national teams will be properly camped and prepared for national assignments.

  1. Duncan's comments are very serious and pathetic.A great African football nation like Ghana should not have to go through such unfortunate experience. The Ministry of youth and Sports or whichever ministry is in charge should make it a priority to help address such issues asap. The GFA can solicit finance for such a laudable facility and Ghana soccer can go beyond imaginable heights. Duncan, keep hammering on and soccer loving fans will keep supporting your idea.
