PLAYERS HAVE TO DIE A LITTLE FOR GHANA - FORMER CAPTAIN

The former captain of the Local Black Stars, Edmund Owusu Ansah says that the players in the current team have to put Saturday’s defeat to South Africa behind them and die a little for the nation. Speaking from his base in Vietnam, the former Asante Kotoko and Heart of Lions midfielder told footyghana.com that the players have to show 100% concentration and avoid putting pressure on themselves. He says, ‘The players have to put the defeat behind them and concentrate 100% or more on Wednesday’s match. They have to avoid putting too much pressure on themselves otherwise they will make mistakes.’ The former national captain also called on all Ghanaians to get behind the team in Wednesday’s clash with Zimbabwe, adding that Ghana still has what it takes to lift the trophy. ‘We came close two years ago to winning the trophy but we became second. I believe that this team is more than capable of winning the ultimate.’ Owusu Ansah is currently playing for Song Lam Nghe An in the Vietnamese Premier League and has played every minute of the club’s two games into the season so far. The midfielder’s contract with the club expires at the end of the Vietnamese football season.
