KRYPTON GHANA, AVANTI SOLUTIONS SET TO CLASH OVER FA CUP COMMISSION FEES

Footyghana.com has come across a document that shows that sports marketing firm Krypton Ghana Limited is entitled to 5% of the commission fees paid to Avanti Solutions which acted as the brokers in landing telecommunications giants MTN as the title sponsors of the FA Cup. The document sighted by footyghana.com is a memorandum of understanding dated the 1st of August 2008 and according to the document, Krypton Ghana Limited ‘shall receive 5% of the total sponsorship amount brokered out of the 15% commission payable on the total sponsorship amount for the duration of the sponsorship brokered between the Ghana Football Association (GFA) and the title sponsor of the FA Challenge Cup’. The document further states that Krypton Ghana Limited ‘shall receive its share of commissions as and when these commissions (whether in part or in full) are paid by the Ghana Football Association.’ Footyghana.com investigations have revealed that since the commission fees were paid by the GFA in November, Krypton Ghana Limited is yet to be paid its share which comes to $50,000 a year for the three-year duration of the MTN Sponsorship of the competition and at the moment, Krypton Ghana Limited is considering legal action to retrieve the monies due it. Further investigations by footyghana.com have turned up the fact that the GFA gave Avanti Solutions a new mandate letter to source for sponsorship on the 24th of May 2010. It will be recalled that at the launch of the MTN FA Cup, it was revealed that Avanti Solutions were due 15% of the total sponsorship amount which comes to $150,000 a year for the next three years.
