GLO PREMIER LEAGUE WRAP: CHELSEA MARCHES TOWARDS TITLE; HEARTS CLIMB OUT OF THE RELEGATION PLACES

League Leaders Chelsea widened the gap at the top of the 2010/2011 Glo Premier League to 13 points after beating closest rivals Medeama SC 1-0 in Berekum through a strike by national Olympic striker Bismark Idan.

Ashanti Gold moved up to third after a 2-0 win against relegation threatened Real Tamale United in Obuasi. In an eventful match which saw Ashanti Gold captain Daniel Asamoah and RTU striker Sumaila Nyaya both sent off within minutes of each other, an over head kick by Yakubu Mohammed and a strike by substitute Theophilus Anobaah sealed the points for Ashanti Gold.

Asante Kotoko moved to fourth after thrashing champions Aduana Stars 3-0 in Kumasi. Goals from midfielders Frank Boateng, Daniel Nii Adjei and Stephen Oduro handed the Porcupine Warriors whilst Aduana Stars now lie 6th, 16 points adrift of the top.

Heart of Lions are now tied on points with Aduana Stars and Asante Kotoko but lie in 5th after beating Berekum Arsenal 2-0 in Kpando. Godfred Asante gave Lions the lead before former Arsenal midfielder Bright Nsiah scored against his old club to hand Lions the three points.

New Edubiase United slip to 7th after losing 2-0 to All Stars in Wa. Goals from Frank Sarfo Gyamfi and Samuel Nortey sealed the points for All Stars, who now climb to 10th.

Hearts of Oak move up to ninth on goal difference after beating Liberty Professionals 2-1 in Accra. A penalty converted by Douglas Nkrumah in the first half was followed by an excellent second by Esme Mends before Daniel Agyei pulled one back for Liberty Professionals from the penalty spot.

Dwarfs are level on points with Hearts of Oak but lie eighth due to superior goal difference after beating relegation bound B.A. Stars 1-0 in Cape Coast. Former national captain Emmanuel Osei Kuffuor scored the only goal of the game.
