GHANAIANS ABROAD 28 FEBRUARY – 2 MARCH 2011

ENGLAND

In the Premier League, Michael Essien was booked in the 74th minute and played the full match as Chelsea beat Manchester United 2-1.

SCOTLAND

In the Scottish Premier League, Prince Buaben replaced Stuart Armstrong in the 72nd minute and scored in the 75th minute as Dundee United beat Inverness Caledonian Thistle 2-0.

Francis Dickoh played the full match as Hibernian won 2-1 at Hamilton Academical.

SPAIN

In La Liga, Quincy Owusu Abeyie was replaced in the 82nd minute by Fernando Miguel Fernandez as Malaga beat Almeria 1-0

Derek Boateng replaced Victor Sanchez in the 66th minute as Getafe drew 1-1 with Atletico Madrid.

Mubarak Wakaso replaced Cani in the 71st minute as Villareal beat Hercules 1-0.

Jeffrey Sarpong was an unused substitute as Real Sociedad drew 1-1 with Levante.

In the Segunda, Jonathan Mensah missed Granada’s 2-0 loss to Girona due to suspension.

ITALY

In the Serie A, Kevin Prince Boateng replaced Robinho in the 63rd minute, scored in the 77th minute and was booked almost immediately for over celebrating as AC Milan thrashed Napoli 3-0.

In the Serie B, Isaac Cofie played the full match as Piacenza beat Empoli 2-1.

GERMANY

In the DFB Pokal, Anthony Annan was booked in the 84th minute and replaced in the 89th minute by Kiriakos Papadopoulos as Schalke 04 beat Bayern Munich to qualify for the German FA Cup final. Hans Adu Sarpei was also replaced in the 82nd minute by Lukas Schmitz for Schalke 04.

FRANCE
In the Coupe de la France, Abeiku Quansah was an unused substitute as Nice beat Reims 3-2 to qualify for the semifinals.

Moussa Narry played the full 120 minutes as Le Mans lost 2-0 to Paris Saint Germain.

NETHERLANDS

In the KNVB Beker, Nana Akwasi Asare missed Utrecht’s 1-0 defeat to FC Twente.

BELGIUM

In the Belgian FA Cup quarterfinals, Daniel Opare played the full match as Standard Liege thrashed Mechelen 4-1 to qualify for the semifinals on a 6-1 aggregate. Abdul Yakinu Iddi was booked in the 85th minute and played the full match for Mechelen, whilst Yakinu’s older brother Abdul Ganiyu Iddi replaced David De Storme in the 57th minute and was booked in the 80th minute for Mechelen.

William Acheampong scored in the 67th minute and was replaced by Dominic Foley in the 87th minute as Cercle Brugge drew 1-1 with Germinal Beerschot to qualify for the semis on a 3-1 aggregate.

Patrick Amoah played the full game as White Star Woluwe lost 1-0 to Gent, who qualify on a 3-0 aggregate.

Rahim was an unused substitute as Lierse lost 3-2 at home to Westerlo, who thus qualify for the semi finals on away goals scored.
