ELECTIONS WILL HAVE MORE VARIETY WITH ARMSTRONG INVOLVED – FA PRESIDENT

The Ghana Football Association President Kwesi Nyantakyi says the declaration of marketing consultant Neil Armstrong Mortagbe to stand for the GFA Presidency will only spice up the elections and give the electorate a variety of options to choose from when the time comes. Nyantakyi, who is seeking a second term of office and will thus run against Armstrong and King Faisal boss Vincent Sowah Odotei, told footyghana.com that even though he was surprised that Armstrong Mortagbe has decided to run for the position, he believes that the Krypton Ghana Limited CEO has a lot to offer, describing Armstrong as his friend. He said, ‘I was surprised to hear of his declaration but I think he also has a lot to offer Ghana football. I have worked with him on several projects before and he is my friend. His inclusion should give the electorate a lot of options to choose from.’ Nyantakyi also told footyghana.com that the Executive Committee of the GFA was in discussions to decide when the presidential polls will take place, but did not clarify whether the regional congresses will take place before or after the GFA Presidential elections.

I AM NOT STANDING FOR FA PRESIDENCY – PAPPOE

THE Vice president of the Ghana Football Association, Fred Pappoe says he has no intention of standing for the FA Presidency. Media reports yesterday seemed to suggest that Pappoe was also going to declare his intention of standing for the hot seat, but he told footyghana.com that nothing of the sort was happening. He said, ‘ It is not true that I am standing for the position nor do I have an intention of doing so. Why should I even consider it when the current president Kwesi Nyantakyi is doing so well in the position? I think he should be allowed to continue the good work.’ Currently, King Faisal CEO Vincent Sowah Odotei and Ghana League Clubs Association treasurer Neil Armstrong Mortagbe have declared their intention to challenge Nyantakyi for the hot seat.

EXCLUSIVE: NEIL ARMSTRONG TO CONTEST FA PRESIDENCY

Footyghana.com can confirm that the Chief Executive Officer of sports marketing firm Krypton Ghana Limited, Neil Armstrong Mortagbe has decided to contest for the Presidency of the Ghana Football Association. According to sources close to Armstrong, he had been thinking about this for the last three months but until this morning, had not made up his mind to stand for the position. Armstrong-Mortagbe is currently the Treasurer of the Ghana league Clubs Association and served as the chairman of the National Chapters Committee of Accra Hearts of Oak for a four year term. He has also served as the Director of the Nationwide Supporters Union (NSU) and he is currently a FIFA Accredited instructor. He is widely credited with bringing in sponsorship from Tarkwa Damang Goldfields to the senior national team, the Black Stars. This means that Armstrong-Mortagbe joins Vincent Sowah Odotei and possibly Ghana legend Abedi Ayew ‘Pele’ in challenging incumbent President Kwasi Nyantakyi for the position later this year.
